The redevelopment of Union Court and University Avenue will see a major facelift to the heart of the Australian National University.
To facilitate the redevelopment a 300m diversion of the 600mm bulk water main was required. Cappello undertook this diversion for Lend Lease.
The project involved the excavation, lay and backfill of trenches up to 4m deep and the construction of associated thrust blocks and scour chamber.
Complexities of the project included the management of asbestos, complex thrust blocks, clashes with existing services which required the relocation of existing stormwater and the structural underpinning of adjacent buildings.
